Web Design

Operating as Orange House Creative (website coming soon!), I create websites using Squarespace, which has allowed me to expand on what I learned while managing the website of a global travel company to help small businesses reach their online goals. I’m a Squarespace Circle member, which gives me access to discounts and extended trials that I can pass along to clients. In addition to web design services for a variety of industries, I often write and edit copy and set up other marketing activities, including email, social media and paid social/search. In conjunction with publication, I submit sites for Google indexing, set up Google Business profiles and create Google Analytics accounts for clients. All sites are mobile-optimized and include SEO copy to make them more visible in search results.

Brown Fox Point

Brown Fox Point Early Childhood Education Center is a preschool in Providence, RI. The school had an outdated website that did little to highlight the uniqueness of its programming and strong ties to the Providence and Brown University communities. The new Squarespace site showcases beautiful professional photography and provides more useful information for prospective families. It allows families to apply online, schedule school tours and submit tuition payments and donations, which I set up using Givebutter. This project also included creating print resources including letterhead, business cards and a variety of print marketing materials.

CPR Products

CPR Products is the premier concrete repair products company in St. Louis, MO. It wanted to replace its 20-year-old website with one that was easier for clients to navigate and research products. The site includes a filterable product directory by category, and many individual product pages include video and additional useful information. It also includes a resource page with additional videos and downloadable PDFs for each product. Set up as an e-commerce site, online ordering functionality could easily be added to help CPR make its products even more accessible. The site project also included re-creating an outdated logo.

Catskill Wheelhouse

Catskill Wheelhouse, a community school located in Greene County, NY, wanted to upgrade its existing Squarespace 7.0 site to the 7.1 version. The new site includes simplified SEO copy about its programming, including preschool, community workshops and events and summer camp. It is also integrated with Procare, an external registration and payment platform the school uses to process applications and accept tuition payments. Catskill Wheelhouse is moving into a new location in Fall 2023 and has used its new site to promote fundraising events and to publicize the move.

Red Star Cafe & Bakery

Red Star Cafe & Bakery is a family-owned cafe serving specialty coffee, baked goods and grab-and-go snacks in Cairo, NY. In addition to creating their website, which will soon include online ordering, I set up their Google Business profile. In their first month of operation, the Google listing generated 500+ interactions including site visits, directions requests and phone calls. I also helped set up their Facebook and Instagram pages, and helped them organize more than two years of photos and videos into Instagram stories and reels showcasing the demolition and renovation of the cafe.

Off Cape Experiences

Off Cape Experiences, an international travel provider based on Cape Cod, wanted its website to allow customers to pay a deposit to book travel, fill out enrollment forms with automated confirmations and complete payment, which all happens in a traveler portal using Squarespace Member Areas. I set up Jotform to process all forms and payments. In addition to designing the site, I wrote site copy incorporating SEO. I also used Squarespace email marketing to set up client payment reminder and pre-travel preparation emails.

Joe Pinsonneault

Joe is an independent educational consultant, leadership coach and CPR trainer based in Providence, RI. He wanted a website that would allow him to highlight his varied service offerings to attract new clients who could find him through search or learn more about his background and experience if referred. In addition to designing Joe’s site and editing copy, I also designed his logo. The project also included creating print marketing resources.

Cornerstone Safety Group

Cornerstone Safety Group is a safety and risk management, medical and mental health consultant for the student travel industry based near Denver. It wanted to create a website to sell memberships (using Squarespace Member Areas), provide educational materials through a resource library, advertise upcoming online events and allow new potential clients to schedule initial consultations through Calendly. In the site’s first four months, Cornerstone generated more than $100,000 in membership obligations.

The Coleridge Group

The Coleridge Group, a financial life planner in Phoenix, needed a website to attract younger clientele. In addition to designing the site, I created brand guidelines, developed brand messaging and wrote site copy incorporating SEO. I also contracted a graphic designer to redesign the company’s logo and create custom art for the site. The site also includes a Calendly scheduler and portal to the financial planning software TCG uses with clients.

Offbeat Travel

Offbeat Travel, a Costa Rica and Dominican Republic tour operator, had a Squarespace 7.0 site and wanted to move to the new version 7.1. I re-created the site in 7.1 and wrote new site copy targeting a B2B audience. The new site also includes a Calendly scheduler. I’m also working with Offbeat Travel to create new print and online marketing resources, from standardizing trip itineraries to developing a new presentation deck. Future site improvements include integrating a job applicant recruiting and tracking platform.

Everyday Deeds

Everyday Deeds, a new nonprofit in Boston that connects people with volunteer opportunities in their communities, needed a website that could sign up volunteers for events and collect donations. I set up Givebutter to do both. I also used Squarespace email marketing to set up email workflows to engage volunteers and donors.

Canine State of Mind

Canine State of Mind, a dog kennel outside of Chicago that offers boarding and training services, was looking for a brand new site to reflect an updated look and feel that would be more appealing to prospective clients. The project included moving the domain to Squarespace from GoDaddy, writing SEO copy and contracted a graphic designer to redesign the logo. I also added an online scheduler to simplify the appointment process for clients.

Orange Mountain House

The Orange Mountain House is the perfect base camp for your upstate adventure, accommodating up to six adults. Start your day with an outdoor shower then a cup of coffee on the deck. After returning from the slopes or hiking trail, cook your favorite meal on the grill and enjoy the evening outside. When the sun sets, move to the fire pit and tell stories under the stars as the embers crackle—marking the end to a perfect day in the Catskills. Coming soon to Airbnb.

Testimonials

  • “Jack is so easy to work with, and is extremely knowledgeable regarding website design and content editing. I have had the opportunity to work with Jack on two projects, and it has been a true pleasure to collaborate with him. Jack has the unique ability to help you reflect upon your desired outcome, and then coaches and guides you towards the end result, which always culminates in a website that is visually breathtaking, content rich, and easy to navigate.

“For us novices, the behind the scenes support that Jack provides is a great relief. Once the website is complete, Jack provides you with an instruction manual, as well as ongoing technical support as needed. Jack always makes himself available to provide support via telephone call or email - there is never a lag time in his response.

“I highly recommend Jack if you are in the market for someone to design your business or personal website. No one does it better!”

    — Joe Pinsonneault

  • “Jack does a hell of a job and I highly recommend him to anyone that needs a website (and other things marketing, for that matter). I knew only enough to be dangerous, and Jack brought the perfect balance of collaboration and expertise required to do things with my new site that I didn't even know I wanted. If you have an idea, he'll make it happen. If you don't, and give him the reins, he'll impress you with the result. Every time I talked to him it was very clear that he genuinely cares about you, your business (or cause, etc.), and creating just the right end product. What's more, Jack is adept at the technical: I'm already seeing better traffic and receiving more potential customer contacts.”

    — Jake Rockel, CPR Products

  • “We are absolutely thrilled with the end result. We had no experience in creating a website and Jack was able to lead us through the process by asking the right questions to get the relevant information. Creating a brand framework helped us get clear on our messaging and made the website design process that much easier. We look forward to working with Jack on other engagements.”

    — Francisco Ayala, The Coleridge Group

  • “The website Jack designed for us is better than we'd imagined! He did a wonderful job guiding us through the process, understanding our needs, and delivering a top-notch platform for us to sell our business. I HIGHLY recommend Jack's expertise and will be keeping Jack engaged with our organization as we continue to grow.”

    — Dave Dennis, Cornerstone Safety Group

  • “This project turned into something bigger and bigger as time went on, but to do it right, it needed to continue growing into what it is. Jack kept us moving forward, kept us organized, knew what needed to happen next, took ownership of a TON of stuff... The site looks great.”

    — Erik Schoon, Off Cape Experiences
