About

fall apple picking in the Hudson Valley

I believe in the power of stories to connect people. It’s why I’ve worked in different capacities as a storyteller during my career, first as a reporter and editor and now as an independent web designer and marketer.

Reporting for community newspapers taught me how to talk to anyone, ask the right questions and find the information I needed to tell politics, crime, education and business stories that connected people with what was happening around them. Managing content for a global educational travel company taught me how to make data-driven decisions to create powerful digital, video and print stories that connected audiences with the brand. It also allowed me to use my relationship-building and project-management skills to work with contributors and stakeholders around the world.

I also tell stories in my personal life, at home to my young son. He can’t understand all of them yet, but I still tell him about how I grew up in Kansas City and fell in love with the Royals, how I met his mom working at a newspaper in Colorado and then followed her to southern Africa because I couldn’t imagine spending two years without her, how we ended up in Brooklyn and then the Catskills, and what the early days were like with him as his mom and I figured out how to be parents while navigating a global pandemic.

My reporting has been recognized by the Kansas and Colorado press associations and The Associated Press. My content marketing work was recognized by the World Youth and Student Educational Travel Confederation.
